Water Tank Cleaning - Water Tank Techs

Water Tank Cleaning

Bring Your Water Tank Back To Life!

Water Tank Techs has developed a range of water tank cleaning options to suit most rainwater harvesting systems.

All water tanks develop a layer of tank sludge on the bottom.  This is made up of decomposed vegetation, dirt, dust, animal droppings and the residue of building materials including sand, clay, paint and heavy metals like lead.  Many water tanks also allow Ultra Violet light access through the inlet strainer on the top of the tank resulting in the growth of algae.  In time the rainwater can change colour and odour, even putrify.

Rainwater can be plumbed to many appliances including pumps, toilet cisterns, washing machines, the entire house, or just a garden tap.  All of these appliances can be impacted by sediment from rainwater resulting in costly repairs.

Why Do I Need To Clean My Water Tank?

The water in your tank includes debris that is flushed from the roof and gutters each time it rains.  This collects into a sludge of decomposed vegetation, animal and bird droppings, even lead from building products.  In time this will taint your rainwater with colour and odour.

Important to Note; your pump and all the water appliances to which it is connected will last longer with clean, sediment free rainwater.

Will I Lose All of the Water?

Your water tank can be cleaned with minimal water loss.  Some water is lost as we wet vaccum the sludge from the bottom of the water tank.  The amount of water loss is dependent on the level of sludge.  Some water tanks, particularly those of a rectangular  shape, may require all of the water to be purged to clean the tank properly.

How Do You Clean Water Tanks?

The method of cleaning is dependent on the requirements of each water tank.  Some tanks may only need a quick vacuum of the sludge layer where others may need to be emptied and pressure washed.  Water Tank Techs offer a free inspection to make an accurate assessment.
